I started with Ron Rubin 24 years ago in the tax firm that he owned that eventually became Bridgewater Wealth & Financial Management. My career was not so much a career, but a job at the time doing bookkeeping and payroll for the firm and other clients. Ron saw something in me and gave me every opportunity to learn, grow and develop a successful career. Over the years, I became the Controller and then a Director of the firm.
I love the people that I work with and the clients I serve. Because we have so many women in leadership roles, I have a network of professional women who support and encourage me everyday.
Our clients’ genius is to be a lawyer or a developer or an I.T. contractor. They don’t want to spend their time preparing financial statements or cash flow planning. I enjoy taking the burden of the financial piece off of them so they can focus on their businesses and their clients. When clients talk to me about issues they have or what they want to do, I bring my ideas to them. I love it when those ideas become solutions that help them and their companies become better at what they do.
My mom and dad divorced when I was young and we were living on my mom’s waitress salary. We had to be on a tight budget. She taught me to be self-reliant and instilled a strong work ethic in me. She is the person who most inspired and influenced me.
Right now, just one of my clients is a woman-owned company. My hope is that more women-owned companies learn what we have to offer and that I have the opportunity to help their companies grow and succeed.
