Why did you decide to become a financial advisor?

When I was working for another firm, my managing director told me the story of his parents.  His mom’s health was failing even as she was caring for her husband who was struggling with his own health concerns. He shared that he wished his parents would have worked with a financial advisor years ago—someone caring that they could talk to and help them plan ahead.  If they had done that, he believed they wouldn’t be in the situation they were in at the time. To this day, his words encourage me to know that my work can change lives and remind me that my purpose in life is to help people.

Was there a moment that you realized you were good at what you do?

I am always learning, and always teaching too.  I knew I was on the right track when clients started telling me that in listening to me, it was the first time they really understood “all of this financial stuff.”

How have you helped other women become more confident in managing and investing their own money?

A young client was able to chart a course and save diligently for an early retirement goal.  She is an amazing entrepreneur and met that first goal and many others mostly because of her tenacity, but also, as she shared with me, because I taught her to pay herself first.

What do you hope to accomplish through Her Wealth?

There are three things:

  1. I want more young clients to start off empowered and knowledgeable.
  2. I hope to see women who have been shaken or even shattered feel empowered to rebuild in the direction of their heart’s desires by making smart financial decisions.
  3. To see this industry changed forever so that women will lead other women to have sustainable resources to support themselves, their loved ones and their communities.

As women have more financial power, I believe they will continue to shape the world for the better!
